Astrophysicist Adam Brake and his son Matthew arrive in an ancient English village to study the magnetic property of the prehistoric stones which enclose it. They discover that the stone circle is aligned to a Black Hole, and that the villagers are in thrall to Hendrick, a sinister magus. They also discover that they are caught in a time trap, a present in which the future can only repeat the past. Adam and Matthew then have to use all their ingenuity and courage to try to re-enter their own time and place. The television series is constantly voted among the scariest TV programmmes by SX magazine.

This book is a TV tie-in when those were just starting to come out - mostly in the form of Doctor Who books. It really follows the TV series almost to the last details, so if you liked the show you may like the book or think it is pointless. Each chapter has some artwork based on the TV show - so even the characters look like the actors from the episodes.
The idea is a Father and son visit a town in which most of the people are acting strange. Nice but strange. The two start to understand that the circle of stone around the town seems to have some power over the people, the land, and even time.
A great fantasy sci-fi book which slowly builds up from realistic to mysterious to totally magical. Great for kids or adults. Or buy it for the memories! Of course, at these prices, maybe getting the Children of the Stones DVD would be easier and cheaper?
